This week, Rhiannon speaks with Angela Hanscom, a paediatric Occupational Therapist based in the US and founder of Timbernook – an award winning developmental nature based program. Angela is extremely passionate about reconnecting children with nature and her book ‘Balanced and Barefoot’ highlights the importance of nature based play.
Angela tells of how she first started working in a traditional clinic environment, however as her waitlist grew coupled with the birth of her own children and realising kids aren’t playing outside like they used to, Timbernook was born! Angela shares with listeners what this innovative approach looks like and the many benefits which children can reap from this. Angela also provides the parents at home with some strategies to connect their children with nature and utilise all their senses.
Finally she shares some exciting news – that Timbernook is coming to Australia!
